Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) more popularly known as her stage name Ari Lennox is an American artist and songwriter hailing of Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist signed to J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. Her first single was released from the label on October 21st of 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she was able to begin gaining attention. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks to the Internet in 2012, after which she debuted her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. Ari Lennox continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014 and released her own single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. Later that year her music was circulating around the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. On the 8th of December, it was reported that she had contracted to Dreamville Records. She was featured on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. Then, in October 2016 she dropped her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. Also, she was featured on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox's album debut Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th July of this year. First single, Whipped Cream, from the album came out September 5, 2018 with an accompanying music video. In November, the singer released the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. She then released on November 13 two brand new singles, titled The No One and pedigree. They then collaborated as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, which was then released as a single on February 26, 2019 for her debut album of the same title. The track was supported by the music video which debuted that was released on February 20, 2019 and was viewed by 3 million people on YouTube within just a week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
